Bed bugs are a huge issue here in the Bay Area, and it doesn’t have anything to do with social status. Bedbugs are opportunists and they’re hitchhikers, so if anyone is in the right place at the wrong time, they could bring them home. ATCO believes that the best way to get rid of them is to use heat versus spray insecticides. Most bedbug insecticides tend to move bedbugs around and they are developing resistance to a lot of those insecticides as well.
Eradi-Flo by Tri-Flo Systems is the heat machine that we use to remediate bedbugs. The Eradi-Flo machine allows us to get ambient temperature in a room up to about 150 to 170 degrees and we’re able to get the hard to reach areas inside walls up to core temperatures of 130 degrees. At that temperature, all insects expire.
We monitor the heat levels within the room, in particular the hard to reach areas like underneath baseboards, mattresses, and closet. We monitor it through the use of heat sensors that all communicate wirelessly to a computer program, so we can get our heat machine going in a particular room and move the heat around in a way everything is treated effectively and bedbugs all die.
